The Bibliothèque Sigmund Freud (BSF) is the library of the Paris Psychoanalytical Association. It was originally founded in 1934 by the Institute of Psychoanalysis and Marie Bonaparte for the analysts’ training.
In 1962, Marie Bonaparte's donation of her own collection of early psychoanalytical books and reviews extends considerably his collections. As of now it has collected more than 25,000 books and volumes of periodicals.
The online catalog references more than 100,000 texts and may be useful for anyone looking for psychoanalytic literature. The main journals in French, English, Spanish, Portuguese, German are indexed by article, author, title, and French keywords.
The library also owns an valuable set of historical journals like:
- Jahrbuch für psychoanalytische und psychopathologische Forschungen
- Zentralblatt für Psychoanalyse
- Internationale Zeitschrift für Psychoanalyse
- Imago
- and the main editions of works of Sigmund Freud, Sandor Ferenczi, Karl Abraham, Otto Rank etc…
The online catalog is updated on a daily basis and can be used to constitute bibliographic lists. Numerous links allow for easy access to summaries and texts when they exist online:
