The Institute of Psychoanalysis in the UK has launched a series of special events to complement a groundbreaking exhibition about psychoanalysis at the Science Museum in London. The exhibition, entitled Psychoanalysis: the Unconscious in Everyday Life, is supported by the Institute and runs from 13 October 2010 until April 2011.

The Klein-Lacan Dialogue series is a continuation of the Klein-Lacan Dialogues of the mid-90s. The seminar series will take place at UCL and is sponsored by Therip, the Psychoanalysis Unit at UCL, the Centre for Psychoanalysis at Middlesex University and the Research Department at the Royal College of Art.

The seminars are geared at comparing and contrasting some main psychoanalytic concepts as they have been developed by these two schools of thought. Speakers will address the issues from both a theoretical and clinical perspective.

“The present and the future of Psychoanalysis”

Studientagung zum 100. Jahrestag der Gründung der Internationalen Psychoanalytischen Vereinigung in Nürnberg

What is specific about the way we do psychoanalysis? Do we know and can we agree on how to answer this question? Is it possible to understand and discuss the reasons for our different ways of working without trying to tell each other how to work (overvision)?

This conference will build on the work of the EPF Working Party on Comparative Clinical Methods and their development of a systematic means of comparing the ways in which analysts work. We will try to advance the process of understanding what we really do when we do psychoanalysis.

A conference organized by the IPA Committee on Women and Psychoanalysis (COWAP) in collaboration with the Spanish Psychoanalytical Society.

Emory University seeks submission of presentations for the interdisciplinary conference on Creativity Through the Life Cycle, to be held at the Emory University Conference Center April 14-17, 2011.

Call for Submissions

Goals and Scope of the Conference:

The conference aims to bring together psychoanalysts, therapists, and scholars from a wide variety of academic disciplines with visual artists, musicians, clinicians, and scientists working both within and outside of academia. In a series of workshops and plenary panel discussions, their various perspectives will be brought to bear on questions of creativity throughout the lifecycle, most particularly the maintenance of creativity, the role of creativity in later life, creativity in the world of scholarship and the university, and the question of “signature style.”
