The development of psychoanalysis in Croatia is associated with the name of Professor Stephen Betlheim who was born in Zagreb in 1898.
Since 1992 a renaissance has taken place in psychoanalysis in Zagreb under the supervision in Italy of the Italian Psychoanalytic Society, and under the patronage of the International Psychoanalytic Association (IPA).
At the Congress of the International Psychoanalytic Association, held in New Orleans in 2004, we were confirmed as the Croatian Psychoanalytic Study Group, headquartered in Zagreb. It was a great date for psychoanalysis in Croatia.
The Croatian Psychoanalytic Society was promoted to Provisional Society status at the IPA Business Meeting on 1st August 2013 during the Prague Congress. To read the speech given by Eduard Klain at that meeting please click here.
