Committee on Administrative Policy and Review Members

Mandate

The Committee on Administrative Policy and Review ("CAPR") shall maintain a watching brief on the economy and efficiency of the administrative support provided by Broomhills. The Committee shall ensure that IPA resources are efficiently allocated according to the priorities approved by the Board. The Committee shall work out the administrative implications of Board policy, priority and programme decisions and make plans for their implementation.

CAPR shall:

  1. Work with the Executive Director to ensure that Broomhills is operating as efficiently and effectively as possible, including the alignment of staffing resources with strategic priorities in both the short- and longer-term;
  2. Continue to study the effects of aging, focusing on those areas which the Aging Committee does not wish to address (in particular demographics and working with component societies to ensure that transferable learning is shared appropriately);
  3. Oversee the IPA's investments in IT, and in particular focus on the possibilities offered by videoconferencing and electronic scientific publishing.

The Committee shall, if it wishes, establish an IT sub-committee.

Composition of the Committee

The Treasurer and the Vice President shall be ex officio members, and one of them shall chair the committee. CAPR shall also have two members from each of the three regions. The Executive Director shall be ex officio Secretary. The previous chair of CAPR shall be a consultant to CAPR (with the right to attend meetings and to be reimbursed as an ordinary member) for a period determined by the current chair of CAPR.

Where CAPR proposes to appoint members to any IT sub-committee who are not already members of or consultants to CAPR, they shall be proposed by CAPR, nominated by the President, and be subject to the approval of the Board. Existing members of, or consultants to, CAPR may be appointed to the IT sub committee by CAPR without reference to any other officer or body.

The Chair may invite staff members to attend.
