A tribute to Jean Laplanche by Dominique Scarfone
Jean Laplanche died on May 6, 2012 just a few weeks before what would have been his 88th birthday. A philosopher (student of Jean Hippolyte, Maurice Merleau-Ponty and Gaston Bachelard), a psychiatrist and a psychoanalyst, one of the great readers of Freud and translator of the just completed French edition of Freud’s complete works, he was, with Serge Leclaire, among the first students signaled out by Lacan.  Read more: Laplanche
